Oi!, lazy fuckers! T.W.A.T. - Blood, Sweat, and Teargas is out - the review

T.W.A.T. is finally out with their debut album, as of 26. August. Here comes probably the most unique t.w.i.s.t. of anhalt EBM: oi punk with electro and EBM mixture. We have been following this band ever since the release of the first demo track Battleground in 2008, and it is particularly great to see this band officially alive with an album! Blood, Sweat, and Teargas (probably one of the most magnificent titles ever) gives a mix of raw and aggressive energy mixed with (at times playful) melody and both male and female vocals. You will only need one listen to realize that this differs a lot from the standard anhalt EBM scene, but the hard beats and raw bass are always there. The melody part comes from the oi punk influence - although 1TJ is not familiar enough with this genre to draw any similarities to specific oi punk bands. Almost every track follows this receipt: straight forward and tight anhalt EBM sounds, but sooner or later the track breaks into a melodic and usually aggressive energy, which is where the unique punk influence breaks through. Some tracks are particularly melodic: for example Born and Raised with a slower pace, fantastic melody, and particularly NOT positive lyrics. Other songs are straight forward and energetic as hell, (Too Rude for Radio (punked up)). Others again are closer to typical anhalt EBM sound (The Barricades). The intro and outro instrumental songs are fantastically catchy and their sounds may make you think of old minimal 80's electro songs.

It is in order to compliment T.W.A.T. for not being afraid to do something entirely unique. The usage of unusual synth sounds in each track has never been heard of in EBM before. Both vocals are energetic, angry, and "punky", but it is particularly unique to hear female vocals in anhalt EBM used like this: tough and very fitting for this kind of music. Some may recognize the male vocals from EkoBrottsMyndigheten, as Martin is a part of that as well.

T.W.A.T. runs up to you in boots, shouts OI! straight into your face, and leaves no doubt that the punk influence that in the early 80s helped shape the pioneering bands of EBM (DAF and Nitzer Ebb), is forever a part of this genre, and that an even stronger mix of these styles works bloody sweaty well!

If you are looking for something unique, if you like oi punk, or old school EBM, or both, you will not be disappointed! If we were to rate album reviews on this blog, Blood, Sweat and Teargas would receive top rating. OI!!!!!

Jäger 90 - Fleisch Macht Böse

Jäger never sleeps. New album to be dropped on us by the two oldschool pilots carying the flag of DAF on 12. August this year.

T.W.A.T., the unique anhalt EBM project mixing the style of oi punk and oldschool EBM is finally getting the deserved release. In fact, two releases: the band has been working on lots of new material and the result is two releases on Machineries of Joy label. As the the band's webpage states, it is up to the label when these will be released, and it should be very soon, although the initial information stated the release on April, 2010. Here is a toast of eine tasse jäger that the label will hurry and release this fantastic band as soon as possible. Read on for more info on the oi! filled music coming your way!

Working Class Love is a digital EP, which will be available for download. This one has a strict Pouppée Fabrikk influence, as the band itself describes it: 3 exclusive massive electronic tracks. These are Working Class, Lovesong, and United. It also includes 3 remixes, by Darkmen and Ionic Vision.

Working Class Love is a warm-up to T.W.A.T.'s first full-length album, which will be released in the standard CD format. The title is Blood, Sweat and Teargas. The track list is not for IKEA people, but for rude boys and girls, and looks just like this:

Familientreffen VII (7) line-up is ready

..almost 100%. But seriously, who can't guess the mysterious Swedish headliner?? (apparently it is not Pouppée Fabrikk - it's Portion Control!)

Continuing last year's tradition, Familientreffen VII goes on for three days - 28. July till 30. July. The festival webpage includes all infos regarding hotels, tents, tickets, prices, food, and fun stuff for EBMer's.

If you haven't attended this festival before and wondering why you should, the answer is very simple: Familientreffen is simply the best festival around for anhalt and old school EBM. Located in the countryside of East Germany (Sandersleben) it is a magnificent event with cheap German beer, cheap German food, and a hole ton of stomping activity.

Starting Thursday as a warm-up day with only two bands and DJ activity later into the night, and continuing with bigger line-ups for Friday and Saturday:

Fist Fight Night in Stockholm with Pouppée Fabrikk and EkoBrottsMyndigheten

Announcing Fist Fight Night in Stockholm, on behalf of Fist Fight Records!

Do you like Fight Club? That is not what this is about. 26th March, in Stockholm, Fabriken, EkoBrottsMyndigheten and Pouppée Fabrikk bring down the fist of solid rock and steel, the boot of leather, with maximum stomp intention. Pouppée Fabrikk resurrected last year, and with a new album coming up and fantastic performance at Body Fest last year, their fans will no doubt be treated well during this night. The band will play a few songs from their upcoming album as well. All you have to do is watch videos from Body Fest (powerful EBM link, another powerful EBM link) to see that Pouppée Fabrikk is one of the most powerful and energy filled old school EBM bands to ever exist!

EkoBrottsMyndigheten naturally will bring the party attitude. Their half a year old album Alla Tiders Bodykallas was a superb anhalt EBM release, filled with songs about Jäger and beer. Expect maximum alcohol-energy, buy Jäger shots, and do push-ups! (Jäger-filled EBM link)

As Fight Night Records say themselves, it is uncertain if the venue where this event is taking place, Fabriken, will stand after these two powerful EBM bands.

Anhalt EBM on the rise: Interview with Nader, the man behind Old School Electrology Vol. 1

Oldschool Electrology Vol. 1 has been a massive anhalt and oldschool EBM project, building up slowly and moving towards the release date, step by step. As Nader, the man behind the project has been calling it: it slowly takes dinosaur steps (huuuuge strong dinosaur legs with BOOTS on, that is). At the time that this post is being made, 11 copies remain to be pre-ordered (in the beginning there were 100) and once it reaches 0 it will fund the final releaze. Information about the pre-ordering and the massive track list of the 4 CDs can be found on EAR page, which is the label behind it. In case you are wondering why OSE Vol. 1 is so special, all of its tracks are exclusive and specifically prepared by the bands for this release. That means new, unheard material from more than 70 bands from the anhalt EBM elite and dark electro.

Therefore it is perfectly fitting to ask Nader a few questions about his work on OSE Vol. 1

1TJ: How did you come up with the idea to create such a big collection of Oldschool and anhalt EBM/dark electro? What motivated you?

Nader: Hello Ramunas, thanks for the cool interview! You’re a staunch supporter of the old school scene and I’d like to commend you for your unwavering commitment to promoting Anhalt EBM. My first compilation Grandchaos “In Sedens” DCD was a precursor to OSE. The XXL Remix EP got overwhelmingly positive reviews and many electroheads encouraged me to take my old school mission to the next level & assemble a 4-cd box featuring all exclusive tracks & exclusive remixes by classic electro acts and mega-talented neo-old school bands. It took me 4 years to wrap up OSE

1TJ: One doesn't only get 4-CD's worth of exclusive and never before released tracks, you put alot of effort into the physical appearance of it as well?

Nader: It’s my undivided devotion to old school electro that kept me going. I’m very fortunate to have an amazing team and I’d like to extend a big thank you to Chris Lewis (frontman of the amazing dark electro act Red+Test) for his magnificent illustrations, Michael Renfield (aka Soillodge) for his awesome formatting and design, and last but not least, Brian Hazard (Resonance Mastering) for his top notch mastering. OSE has turned into a concept project and customers will capture the full essence of old school electro once they grab their copy.

1TJ: The whole process wasn't easy. What difficulties did you meet?

Nader: It was a very time consuming & frustrating project. I had to follow-up with each and every band and make sure that Brian is fully satisfied with the wav files. As the old saying goes, no pain, no gain

1TJ: How did you pick the bands for such a huge collection?

Nader: I’ve drawn upon my extensive knowledge of the old school/neo-old school scene to assemble this monumental project.

1TJ: It says Vol. 1, so will there be more collections in the future?

Nader: I sure hope so!

1TJ: What music do you yourself listen to?

Nader: I’ve a wide taste in music, but I mostly listen to complex, multi-layered dark electro, old school EBM, minimal electro/analog synthpop, italo-disco and techno.

1TJ: Where do you think the anhalt EBM scene is going?

Nader: Anhalt EBM is definitely gathering pace and I hope OSE will reignite interest in old school electro

1TJ: Do you have any new anhalt EBM favorites? I.e. bands you would want to include in a new collection? Perles from the underground?

Nader: I’m a HUGE fan of Astma, Ondska, Pact of Warsaw, Neukampf and Oldschool Union (all featured on OSE Vol. 1). We’ll see what the future holds for volume 2.

1TJ: Only 11 pre-orders remain until you can finance the release, and it seems the wait is almost over. Where does it go from here? Will there be possibilies for digital purchase? Any other plans?

Nader: 11 more steps to reach the 100 pre-orders target and I’m glad that we’re inching closer to the finish line. It was an agonizingly slow process and I’d like to thank each & every OSE customer for their patience and support! The project wouldn’t have been possible without you. As you may already know, OSE is an outrageously expensive project. Right from the very beginning, I was determined to release a luxurious dream box and I was so crushingly disheartened with the astoundingly low pre-orders. I know for a fact that thousands of casual fans want to illegally download the box-set the day it comes out and that’s why I had to set a 100 pre-orders target. The rationale behind this move is to cover part of exorbitant expenses and avoid a hefty loss. Come to think of it, I know it’s insanely crazy to release a hard copy only collector’s box in the age of illegal downloads.

1TJ: Any final words to the anhalt EBM stompers and the whole scene?

Nader: Please support bands and labels. Illegal downloads are really killing the music industry

Exclusive anhalt ebm promotion: Human Steel and Struck 9

The underground is growing, and it is getting difficult to keep track of all new bands that keep coming up, but here are two bands that deserve some extra attention. They are unique, not only because they originate from countries that aren't Germany or Sweden, but because they stand out musically. They are Human Steel (Poland) and Struck 9 (Colombia).

Human Steel is a newer project, making industrial EBM with anhalt ebm sound, although their latest tracks are entirely anhalt ebm both in sound and factory-attitude. Their first release is a promo EP entitled First Contact, with four tracks which all start off with a typical anhalt EBM sound with hard beats, but these tracks explode into a broader style, with more electro and industrial sounds than is usual in this genre. Do not misunderstand though, Human Steel do well in keeping the atmosphere and attitude true to the old school EBM genre. For additional fun, First Contact EP also includes an anhalt ebm tribute to Kraftwerk! Beyond this promo EP, the band has uploaded newer tracks on their myspace, of which particularly Behind The Walls is a hard hitting tough anhalt EBM beast! Human Steel also stands out through very good vocals, which sometimes remind of Armageddon Dildos, and will please those who are tired of growling in EBM, as well as those who prefer more clean ones. Words don't make enough justice, therefore make sure to check out their tracks on their myspace, and look out for a link to their music, which they are planning to upload for free in the future.

Struck 9 is also different from the typical anhalt ebm band in the same fashion - it borrows an influence from other genres, but without losing its anhalt and oldschool EBM sound. It is raw, straight forward and powerful EBM. Their latest release "Democracy" (2010) has 9 varied tracks, which range from minimalist and tough anhalt EBM, to more hard hitting and more sound-filled tracks, with some modern EBM influence, and sometimes a little techno. This release also has a great remix from Spanish anhalt EBM masters Tech Nomader. Less talk, more listening: the band has been so kind to upload "Democracy" for free download. And recently Struck 9 has released a remix album entitled "Default" which includes mixes from various bands, i.e. Equitant. You will find all info about this on Myspace.

SWEDISH EBM - The Collection: a review

Look what the cat brought in! Look what the cat brought in! A mighty pleasant and hard-hitting Christmas present, that's what. Otherwise, those words are a chant in the new ultra fast and extra punk Container 90 song "Copycat" on the great release from Fist Fight Records - a various artists CD with some of the best Swedish anhalt EBM bands.

Fist Fight Records is a new label featuring new Swedish bands, such as No Sleep By The Machine and Stockholm Wrecking Crew, and three other bands which will soon release their debute albums. One of their first releases is Swedish EBM - The Collection featuring known Swedish oldschool EBM bands, as well as some up and runners. Click on their myspace link to see the details as well as the ordering options. The release includes 14 new tracks.

Musically, this collection is a mix of most subgenres oldschool EBM has to offer. The pure elctropunk part is covered by Container 90 with their fastest, most energetic (and thus shortest, in good punk tradition) track so far. The other punky parts which keep appearing in Swedish anhalt EBM are presented by T.W.A.T and their oi-punk influenced style, and Stockholm Wrecking Crew show off their unique and well developed, particularly hardcore and strong style.

The more general anhalt/oldschool EBM style is covered by Turnbull A.C's and Spetsnaz, which continue in their well know musical footsteps. There is also energy-filled as always Kropp and bass-filled Astma. Amongst the most old school sounding tracks is No Sleep By The Machine with its unique and catchy style, and Projekt Tanz which seem to be influenced in part by old school techno, as always presenting extremely catchy beats with a good dose of humour.

Autodafeh follow in their footsteps as well, the new track fitting well into the style of their latest album release. SPARK! present a very anhalt-ebm sounding and hard-beating track at first, which then explodes into more melodic style, what they have increasingly become known for. And in the end there is Dupont with an earlier version of one of their harder songs, Batch ID with a synth-pop track influenced by harder EBM style; and another masterpeice from Sturm Café and their recently developed style that is a mix of everything that is good: anhalt ebm, old school electro, Madonna-bass, italo disco, neue deutsche welle, and their own fresh catchyness.

Swedish EBM - The Collection is not only a very varied and great collection of anhalt and old school EBM, which for that reason will be an album that will be listened to on repeat for a loooong time. But it also does a great job at representing Swedish EBM, what it has done in the past and what it has to offer in the future, across the growing variety of bands and subgenres of anhalt EBM. There is only one thing that it lacks and that is EkoBrottsMyndigheten!

New albums from Escalator and Karbu38

E | K Product is the title of the new Italian label, which is also a part of Elektro Kommando, creating live anhalt EBM events (which they have been doing for soon 3 years) and a webshop. Escalator is an old legendary Hungarian band, always following in true old school EBM footsteps, and sharing some similarities with Front 242, especially in their old releases. However, Escalator has taken its own personal and independent path within hard beating electronics genre. The new album is called "Out of my Ego".

Karbu38 is a French anhalt EBM newcommer to the scene. Only one song "Ready Steady Go" from this band exists so far (and you can find it as a demo on downloads on the right side here), and it has received many good responses. As a result, Karbu38 will release their debut album in January on Elektro Kommando. The title is "Tour De Chauffe" and will have 12 new tracks, with 4 additional remixes from the elite of anhalt EBM.. - Spark!, Autodafeh, Darkmen and Tech Nomader. Are you ready!? To be STEADY!?

Info about new Jäger 90 and A.D.A.C. 8286 albums

Achtung! Neues album!

Both magnificent bands, Jäger 90 and A.D.A.C. 8286 have announced new albums just recently. So Eine Tasse Jäger asked for inside information about those..

The new album from Jäger 90 will follow the same old school ebm direction the band has always been true to, no new experiments, and straight to the point as it always has been. The working title for the album is "Fleisch Macht Böse", but the final title for the new album is not set yet. No release date yet, but lets hope for 2011.

The new album from A.D.A.C. 8286 will be released in the beginning of 2011, hopefully early! The style remains similar to their previous album, with some more brutal and intense songs, and others more experimental. Fear not, however, the experimental part is slower and more catchy and raw than ever.. A.D.A.C. 8286 has uploaded two of their new such songs on youtube: Down on your Knees (this one is a whole video) and Do The Ratwalk. Boodyboogie! Enjoy! AUGH!

Also watch out for some fresh news about Altmark Electros (Projekt A:E), as soon as 1TJ gets the good-to-go-sign-with-some-links.

Rise of the underground: new bands and projects

It's time to do a little sum-up of the recent additions to the band list and events. There have been many new anhalt ebm bands and projects from last six months.

If you are planning to attendt Bodyfest, keep in mind that the tickets magically increase in price on 1. October. Also, Bodyfesters are reporting that they are close to having a full house (which is kind of big, so heard Eine Tasse Jäger..), so keep in mind that the tickets may run out.

First of all, let's do Poland! Bodyfest (see the post below) is a particularly huge event in Sweden with a legendary line-up, but it turns out the Collapsed City Festival three weeks later on 31. October in Poland (Szczecin) is a great follow-up. The line-up is entirely old school: AD:keY, K-Bereit, Spark!, Spetsnaz, Sturm Café, and Jäger 90 as the well-deserved headliner. Apparently Eastern Europe is growing on anhalt EBM, which two new bands from Poland also show: Human Steel (an industrial electro band with a touch of anhalt ebm sound), and Butaprendisko which is purely hard stomping anhalt ebm (you can download free promo tracks from this project here).

Underground, as Electric Tremor always is, their release from more than a half year ago, presents many new bands which deserve more attention. The release "Der Arbeitende Mensch/ The Working Man" was a mix of 32 different tracks, remixes and exclusive unreleased material. It brought many new bands to the scene, such as EBM Stompers - a purely anhalt ebm project with a heavy attitude and various speech recordings instead of vocals, Volkszorn - more straight forward anhalt EBM with growly vocals (and not in a harsh-electro way!), Legionaire - which do the legionare themed warrior anhalt ebm very well, or Endzustand - melodic, but tough anhalt ebm. And other new bands from Der Arbeitende Mensch: Frontschweine, Operation Korsakoff, E-norm, IBang Elektronika, Front Syndrome, Schlagkraft, D-F-O-W, Neukampf, L Szenario, Neuro Rhythm, Low Tech Front, Kälteidiotie, and NordarR - which by now have released their first album on Electric Tremor. Electric Tremor also have released an exclusive various artists album dedicated to Familientreffen VI, with mostly new tracks from several bands - such as DBS, A.D.A.C. 8286, T.W.A.T., and Container 90.

Otherwise, there is Sturm Café with a few new tracks on their myspace and a new release sometime soon. Another addition to the French anhalt EBM scene with Karbu38 (with their fantastic song Ready Steady Go, which you can download for free on the links to the right). A more unique project called Mineshaft - which does covers of old pop songs in a hard beating and catchy old school EBM way. Fritz' Kotze is another new German anhalt band with particularly nice tracks "Wir fahren jetzt nach Dessau" and "Gehirncontrolle" and its remixes.

There is also a new old school EBM band from Chille, called Dr. Body, with many references to old EBM bands. Rhesus Factor has an insane amount of new songs and a new release, their style a mix of old school EBM and techno. Blood Shot Eyes is a pioneering Italian anhalt EBM band with straight forward energy, and they have uploaded their first EP for free. MachineSoldier is a Danish old school EBM band which has always been closer to Front 242 in its style, but their most recent track "We Are Back" seems almost as a truly fantastic tribute to Nitzer Ebb's "Let Your Body Learn". Unfortunately you can't hear it on their Myspace, but it can be found on 14. Elektrisch Festival sampler. AWIlum is another old school ebm band with unique vocals filled with energy. Electroparia is a tough, very heavy music with lots of bass and awesome catchy melodies. And Tech Nomader are working on their new album, which will be released on the new Elektro Kommando label.

And, with pride, it's a pleasure to announce the first ever Norwegian anhalt EBM project: Overformynderiet, which will perfrom live as support for Ionic Vision in Trondheim, 3. December, which we are arranging. Overformynderiet would upload promo tracks on myspace, but apparently bands from Dessau stole all the microphone cables. If you see one, please steal it back(microphone cable, not a band from Dessau) and return to Overformynderiet, who are at the moment living in an abandoned factory. Bodyfest in Stockholm! The oldschool EBM festival with legendary line-up

We were told that Bodyfest, the new festival in Stockholm on 9. October, would have something big as the headliner band. It turned out to be 242 tons big, because Front 242, one of the legendary creators of EBM, was announced as the headliner just recently!

You are probably sad because Familientreffen is already over, or maybe you only remember the trip to Sandersleben and back, and the rest is blank and smells of alcohol. Here is your second chance! Bodyfest is only 1 day, but in return it makes up for it with probably the most legendary line-up that has ever existed!

No Sleep By The Machine gets the honour of opening the festival. Expect slightly harsh, Klinik-sounding, oldschool EBM with a great deal of catchy beats and synth and lots of energy! This band certainly stands out from the scene with unique sound and song compositions.

Stockholm Wrecking Crew is the second band, the crew of Swedish electropunks with a mix of anhalt ebm and pure punk in their music. Tons of energy and fun!

SPARK! brings the night farther with their growing popularity through more melodic and even "poppy" approach towards old school EBM. Expect a performance with lots of energy and scottish skirt, maybe blue and yellow socks!

AutoDaFeh provides specifically great support for the headliner this night. One of the few bands that have managed to perfectly draw influence from Front 242, they have grown to be professional performers which you can always see when they are on stage. Fuel! Of Fire!

Tyske Ludder is the fourth band, the legendary German oldschool EBM with a militaristic theme and insane energy on stage - which anyone who has seen them live in the past will acknowledge. Panzer! (the name translates into German Slut(s) )

Pouppée Fabrikk is the second big surprise in the line-up. The old school EBM legends, that have never been forgotten while they were "dead", which shaped much of modern anhalt EBM, and now are extremely welcome when they have resurrected, this is their first live performance in many years. Their new album may or may not be out before this festival, or maybe it will be released on Bodyfest itself? Oh, one can dream.. Expect 100% old school EBM with their own defined and unique heavy attitude. Plus, they promised performing their new tracks!

Front 242 is the big headliner that was just announced, and probably doesn't need an introduction. In any case, it's one of the bands that shaped EBM back in the good old 80s, and has a very varied discography, but one should probably expect tons of old school hits on a festival like this? It's perfect headliner for this night.

It is extremely well done by the arrangers to achieve such a line-up!

Thanks to Electric Tremor for another fantastic festival! As usual, it was flawless, and this time without the heavy rain and following goo. Goo-stomp is hardcore.

All bands were great, but it was especially good to see the official festival opener T.W.A.T. with their unique oi punk influence, the heavy vocals of A.D.A.C. 8286, Eine Tasse Jäger chanting EkoBrottsMyndigheten (which by the way didn't bring their new album afterall, since it got stuck somewhere in Asia (of all places), energetic and unfortunately too short performance from electropunk masters Container 90, pleasingly endless East West old school hit from legendary Armageddon Dildos..and the list can go on almost forever. There is no point to write a review when there is video to show, so here are my videos of one song from each band, as many as I managed:

And I did. From the roof of a building with this logo on it. In Sweden, of course. I was drunk (guess on what), so I fell through the chimney and landed on a box with this logo on it. It said "dangerous materials inside, do not open". As good electro hooligan that I am, of course I opened it.

On the inside I found an envelope, with confidential information. I stole the whole SHEBANG and later when I opened it, I found secrets about the new EkoBrottsMyndigheten album.

The album is called "Alla Tiders Bodykalas" and will be released on Familientreffen in July. 18 new tracks, including fresh material and newer versions of older songs! Professional artwork and press, and all that! It looks like it's going to be a EBM classic even before we have heard it. EkoBrottsMyndigheten will play on Saturday on Familientreffen. Be there! Releases May 2010: AD:keY, Bodystyler, Frontal and Hymns of Sex

Spring fuels love and apparently endless energy for more anhalt ebm! Or, for a combination of both, see Hymns of Sex compilation below. The four albums mentioned here are about to be released this month (May), but many other bands have been working on new noteworthy individual tracks - watch out for a post about these very soon!

Electric Tremor brings two new releases. AD:keY are back with their second official album, which promises a mix of the old school Armageddon Dildos sound and anhalt EBM, which we have come to expect from this band. Those who long for more female vocals in this kind of music, watch out! The album is titled "That's It!" and will be released on 17. May. It features a remix by some entirely unknown very-underground band called Agonoize (maybe it plays polka influenced future pop? We really do not know), which Electric Tremor suggests you should give a cold shoulder to. If you are a "die-hard old school Tremorian" that is! (Which you are. If you are not, do more push-ups while blasting anhalt ebm! And drink Jäger!). AD:keY are also a part of the hard-stomping concert night in Rome 15. May, organized by Elektro Kommando. Spetsnaz and Klonavenus will also play at this event.

The other release from ET is the Bodystyler box, which includes tons of new remixes of their older songs (by Tech Nomader, U.M.M., Bodylink, and Lokomotiv), as well as three new Bodystyler tracks. Strictly limited to only 50 copies, this even has a magnetic casette with exclusive tracks and remixes on it. For those who don't have the possibility to play this kind of historical item, there is an EP (separate to the box, that is: a different release) which includes all the material from the casette. Additionally, remember that Bodystyler is a part of the WGT warm-up in Leipzig on 20. May, a concert which also will include performances from Coinside and Camping Im Keller. Bodystylah!

Another anhalt ebm band Frontal has been silent for a couple of years, but they apparently have been busy creating new material - the new album "Alles Lüge" will be released on 28. May, and can already be pre-ordered. It has 10 new tracks, of which only one has been released before on a sampler from Electro Arc. Also, Frontal will be opening the third day of the magnificent (really) Familientreffen VI festival this July.

Last, but not least, the ebm-perverts have created a new old school/anhalt EBM compilation, which is a follow up to the few-years old Hymns of Steel compilation, by Machineries of Joy label. The new one is called Hymns of Sex, and all tracks have filthy dirty titles. That is 19 new exclusive songs about sleezy things. This will be released 24. May, and it better not have moaning in all of the songs - because some of us have a family to consider when we listen to this! In any case, this compilation is very promising, including a variety of new and old EBM bands, the cream (dirty pun?) of the scene. The track list is as follows:

Out Of Line release "EBM" (old school compilation)

Simply titled "EBM", this newly released compilation is the ultimate collection of old school EBM tracks. It features all the legendary pioneers (Front 242, DAF, although there is no Nitzer Ebb), and some of newer most skilled and unique bands that had recently revived old school EBM: Jäger 90, Spetsnaz, Pouppée Fabrikk, etc.

For someone familiar with this genre of music, only tracks from Jäger 90, Pouppée Fabrikk, Nordarr, Container 90, and Rummelsnuff (remixed by Leæther Strip) will be new. The remaining ones are old legendary hits, which is in a way slightly disappointing: new tracks from these bands would definitely be a treat! However, if this compilation is meant to draw more attention to old school ebm and its newer still very underground bands, by using the popularity of Front 242 and DAF, it can be justified. If anything, this 17-track collection is the ultimate choice for a old school ebm drink-beer-Jäger-and-dance/stomp fest! Uh..!

Especially noteworthy and entirely new tracks are Jäger 90 "Wir Brauchen Kein Feuer (Flagge Zeigen)", which continues to show off their skill at creating their own sound and a great catchy track, although staying entirely minimal through the whole process. Pouppée Fabrikk "SYMPTOM (Hard Cut Mix)" is another one, which does justice to old tracks by this band, as well as Volt, CAP, Menticide, and so on. Probably, this is a taste of their new album that is going to be released sometime in the near future, in which case we are in for a hard-beating treat (100% guitar free too!). "Straight Jacket" from Container 90 is another great and fast electropunk track, and "Pumper (Leæther Strip Remix)" from Rummelsnuff is very bass-filled and hard beating track with distinctive clean vocals that we have come to expect from this muscular man.

Interview with Equitant

For many, Equitant is known through outstandingly great, monotonic, hard beating EBM tracks "Körperwärme" and "Mekanik". Last year Equitant created a new project, a collaboration with Yasmin Gate, which presented tracks of the same quality. This time with great female vocals, which being a rare thing in old school EBM, Yasmin fits this music extremely well. In both Equitant and Equitant & Yasmin Gate projects you can hear what is some of the hardest beats in old school EBM genre, with a touch of old school techno, and a great deal of hard energy stemming from Nitzer Ebb's "That Total Age" album. Being the only old school EBM artist from the US, Equitant stands out in modern EBM scene with its own well-developed sound, and receives an additional amount of Eine Tasse Jäger worship! It is in order with an interview - and while you read it, listen to Equitant's myspace player - and, oh great Jägerbottle forbid!, try to resist go on looking for a sledgehammer to smash things with, in rhythm. Or (stomp)dance, if that is more your thing. Or just nod your head in accordance to the beats, if you are shamefully lazy.

1TJ: Equitant has existed for a long time, going as far back as 1993. Can you shortly tell the history of this project?

Equitant: Equitant was formed around the same time I was doing another side project band called “Equimanthorn” in 1993. This was very dark ritual style synth music, and very experimental. I wanted to do something on my own with no other members, something that was just a synthesizer and myself. So I set out to write and record a few demos...it was nothing like my music today. It was more or less synth music in the style of Tangerine Dream or Mort Garson, a dark Tangerine Dream with some vocal narrations over the sounds. It was all very “movie sound track” oriented. After 1994 nothing was done with my solo work. It was not until 1999 that I started making electronic music with drum machines, and beats…techno oriented.

1TJ: You were in thrash metal band Absu, which is musically different from Equitant. Did your experience in Absu influence Equitant musically?

Equitant: Not really. Though it did give me the experience of the whole "writing music process”, working with members and the music business in general. Doing extreme Speed Metal/Black Metal is far from doing electronic music. But, the 2 do have some similarities, the heaviness and the aggression; and both are darker forms of music. Those are 2 things very much in common with these forms of music.

1TJ: What music do you listen to, in general?

Equitant: I started out listening to Punk Rock in the 80’s, then discovered metal, then 70's progressive rock/art rock etc. In the early 90's the two that really opened the doors to electronic music for me were Kraftwerk and Laibach. These days it is mainly electronic music that I listen to, electro, EBM, techno, italodisco etc. Any electronic music from the 80’s is always great!

1TJ: What influences the music you create for Equitant?

Equitant: Kraftwerk, Nitzer Ebb, Depeche Mode...the earlier material of these three I prefer the most.

1TJ: You run Black Montanas label entirely alone? Can you tell us about this label in general in a few words? What is its vision?

Equitant: I do run the label alone, and it’s very hard work, but totally worth it. Black Montanas originally started as a magazine in the early 90's, and then became my label for early Equitant demos in 2002. In 2007 it became strictly a digital Internet label. The label provides worldwide digital distribution and representation for independent artists of an electro, techno, EBM and experimental variety. We are distributed worldwide through: Black Montanas Mp3 Shop, The Reliquary and Black Leather Records. You can find all the releases on itunes, amazon, emusic, rhapsody, junodownload + many more. The vision is just to expose people to some very good underground electronic music!

1TJ: How did you come up with the collaboration project between Equitant and Yasmin Gate?

Equitant: Of course I was a fan of her past project "Dirty Princess". I first got in contact with Yasmin through "Red Industrie" (Mexico). They wanted me to do a remix of "Electro Body" that featured Yasmin on vocals. So ELITE! and myself both did remixes for this track and released it on Black Montanas. We wrote the songs from the ground up, since Red Industrie did not send us any samples for the remix, only Yasmin's vocal track. So we gave the song a nice EBM feel. After this Yasmin and I became good friends. I had been working on demos for some new tracks, just a few loops. So I sent these to her and she did the vocals, lyrics and named the song "That's All". I then re-worked and re-wrote the song from these few loops and her voice. We then decided to release it as "Equitant & Yasmin Gate", and not just "Equitant". I also produced a song "You Know What I Want" for her debut album that will be out on Space Factory Records (France). Along with other collaborators: T Raumschmiere, Ikki, Douglas McCarthy, Migue Garcia and Petra Flur. Look out for it!

1TJ: Do you have more future plans for Equitant & Yasmin Gate?

Equitant: We plan to do a new EP maybe this summer, if we are not too busy. Time will tell I guess. We did just release a remix release of artists remixing "That's All" on Black Montanas called “That’s All The Remixes”. Some very good remixes by Adriano Canzian, Mini, The Crime, The Crime & Yan Sizov, Kaball, Salamander, Darank, Fabrique, Cute Heels, Ciudad 70, Strange Connection, C. Denza, Jonathann Cast, Lethargy, Ruben Montesco, The Blisters Boyz, Struck 9, Jauzas The Shining and Heko.

1TJ: And general future plans for Equitant?

Equitant: Right now I am working on a few new remixes. After this I will stop work on remixes and the label to start my 4th full-length album. It will be a long process, at least 8 months to write. So I am looking forward to it.

1TJ: Equitant is more or less the only old school EBM band from the US, that we are familiar with here in Europe. How is old school EBM scene in the US?

Equitant: Heh, I don't know of any good old school EBM from the states. Europe is the capital of this style of music! Texas does have a great EBM label about an hour from my city, in Austin Texas, "Sigsaly Transmissions". A very good label with: AUTODAFEH, K-BEREIT, IMPULSE CONTROL, NTRSN, PORTION CONTROL, RED FLAG, VOID KAMPF, XP8.

1TJ: Are you going to come to Europe to perform live someday?

Equitant: I do hope to come to Europe one day again...the last time I was in Europe was 1997, its been too long.!! Maybe this year I will return once again. I hope so. I have had some offers, but noting for sure yet. Thanks for the interview!

New releases: Void Kampf, Autodafeh, and Guerrilla

Void Kampf have been making oldschool EBM with a techno influence since 1999, and after three self-released albums (which by the way can be downloaded for free from their official page, see the link to the right!), their first official album "Severe Mais Juste" is a few days out on Sigsally Transmissions. The video trailer for this release promises fat basslines and panzer beats, which is exactly what you get! This album is perfect for synchronized push-ups. It is extremely masculine, heavy, r e a l l y hard-beating and definitely worth the long wait it took to finally hear it! It can be purchased as a CD with a LEGO-influence, or as a digital download on various sites. Rock the club!

Autodafeh is another band coming from Sigsally Transmissions and the new album "Identity Unknown" has been out for more or less one month. This release continues in the fashion of Front 242, this time to some extent it seems less old school and closer to their later releases. It also very fittingly includes a remix from Front's Daniel B, which might make you think of their Up Evil sound. With all this talk about F242, it is important to remind that Autodafeh are not copying, but rather are influenced. Identity Unknown shows a professional band which without a single doubt knows what it's doing, and which has developed its own sound in the old school ebm and general electronic music scene. This release can be found on various sites for digital and real-world purchase on tons of sites on the internet - google is your friend (really)! Crash and burn!

Guerrilla has been teasing us with promises of a new album for quite some time, and without any huge announcements, it apparently has been out for a month or two already. Entitled "Industrialisation" and presenting nine entirely old school EBM tracks with clean vocals, it can be purchased for digital and cheap download, or as hard copies for the hard elite. New EP from Spark! - Genom Stormen

The Swedish duo Spark! are back with a new EP release - "Genom Stormen", this time released through Progress Productions. It will be available on April 14th this year, and can otherwise be pre-ordered any time right here. It may also be available for digital purchase.

This new EP includes four new tracks, of which two are remixes by old EBM veterans Leæther Strip and Project-X. The new songs are "Genom Stormen" and "Tankens Mirakel". You can preview one of those on their Myspace, where it seems Spark! are continuing farther in their fashion of making hard beating old school EBM with a stronger presence of melody.

The international EBM day, for obvious reasons! A good day to drink beer and Jäger (many tasses!), do pushups, drink more Jäger, and stomp around till the floor starts making unhealthy little noises. Or, if you are lucky, there may be an event going on in your city. Destroy the floor of their locale instead!

In case you lack music for your celebration, check out the Vox Insana blog, which does a great job in promoting old school EBM, including downloads of many very underground and rare bands and releases.

And last, but not least, this day is perfectly fitting to present the final line-up for Electric Tremor's Familientreffen VI (all, except one yet unknown band which will open the festival on Thursday). Body Slam is a newly released EP consisting of three Swedish old school ebm bands, each of their own style: Batch ID - (mixing old school EBM, a touch of punk, and synthpop), Stockholm Wrecking Crew (pure energy of old school EBM and electropunk), and No Sleep By The Machine (old school EBM with a unique slightly grim energy). Each band presents two tracks for this EP, making a total of six - in case you are too drunk to count (drink more Jäger!). More information can be gathered here (on the left side of the page, below band info, in case you are still too drunk to find it), and in relation to this EP there will be an event on 10th of April in Göteborg, naturally featuring all three bands.

Oi meets old school EBM - interview with T.W.A.T.

T.W.A.T. emerged as one of the most unique projects last year, mixing oi and oldschool ebm styles, which led to very catchy and fresh results! EBM has always been to some level influenced by punk music through origins of Deutsch Amerikanische Freundschaft and Nitzer Ebb, and this influence is present in most modern bands as well. However, T.W.A.T. is an entirely different case, because the Oi influence (which is unique from typical punk) stands out very strongly in their music - which results in an entirely outstanding mix. T.W.A.T. is the very first band to go in this direction, and is doing so with great success: listen for yourself on their Myspace. Their first full-length album is coming up soon, and they are one of the first bands to be confirmed for the legendary Familientreffen festival this summer, so for that occasion it dawned on us that it would be fitting with an interview..

1TJ: How did T.W.A.T start, what motivated you, and how did you come up with this unique mix of oi and ebm styles?

Martin: T.W.A.T. started with me (Martin Sax) wanting to bring together the best of my two favourite genres, EBM and Oi Punk, and make melodic EBM with some twists and in-your-face lyrics. My own views in different political and social questions often shine through in T.W.A.T.s lyrics as well.

I was already involved with the projects EkoBrottsMyndigheten and PROTOTYP, but none of those projects were right for the music-style I was after.

I made the song “Battleground” and uploaded it to Myspace. The response was fantastic and I knew I had found a style that was something a little different and that appealed to people.

1TJ: What music do you listen to in general?

Martin: I listen to a lot! Punk, Rock and different electronic genres, but I mainly listen to EBM and Oi. Lyrics-wise I have always been impressed with the storytelling of Nick Cave and I think that sometimes shows in my lyrics as well. The ability to write good refrains is what makes most of my favourite bands special.

1TJ: What are the lyrical themes in your music?

Martin: Everything and anything! Everything that passes through my brain and anything that pisses me off makes for good lyrics-material. Often it’s about the life and situation of the working class and the problems and troubles we have to live through every day.

1TJ: There is a new album coming soon: tell about it?

Martin: It will be great! I’m sure that everyone who liked what we’ve done so far will be more than satisfied. It will contain the best of the demo tracks in new versions and some new songs as well. We are wrapping it up right now and hopefully it will be ready for you to enjoy in spring 2010. It will be titled “Blood, Sweat & Teargas”.

1TJ: How was the live experience in Leipzig earlier last year?

Martin: It was the best welcome ever! Mary S. Sax (musician and back vocalist) joined up with T.W.A.T. before the Leipzig-concert and is now a constant member of the band. We weren’t expecting anything as it was our first gig, but the place was packed with people and everyone was dancing like crazy and knew the lyrics and sang along. It was just great! Both Mary and I were totally ecstatic afterwards.

1TJ: What are your general future plans for T.W.A.T.?

Martin: I just want to continue writing good songs and keep getting better and better at doing that. Hopefully we will also get to play live a lot more! That’s perhaps the best part of making music and having a band. The feeling is amazing.

1TJ: You have released all your music for free download for everyone so far. Very few bands do this nowadays, so what motivated you to do it?

Martin: I’m not doing this for the money. I think our music should be for everyone to enjoy, not just people who can afford to buy it. So the full album will be available for free download for everyone and on CD as a collectors-item.

1TJ: Do the letters in T.W.A.T. stand for something in particular?

Martin: Yes, but that is a huge secret, and if I told you - I would have to kill you!

New releases from Ionic Vision, Sturm Café, and live events in Italy

Elektro Kommando presents two events this winter and spring, both taking place in Italy.

Ionic Vision (accompanied by Halo Effect) will perform this Saturday (January 16th) in Club House Europe in Napoli. This event will also present the newest release from Ionic Vision, entitled "Complete Isolation". Exclusive to this occasion, the band will bring the special very limited version of the album, including an additional 8 track EP. Details about the event can be viewed here.

Some months later (April 3rd) will present another old school EBM event in Rome, at Traffic Club. Headlined by Sturm Café and KROPP, this will be a great opportunity for those who missed those two "last" concerts by Sturm Café last year. The band was announced dead last February, and after 1 year's silence it has reborn with a new energy and is here to stay (hopefully forever this time!). The fresh and optimistic announcement from Sturm Café themselves can be read here.

Expect the release of 7" vinyl single "Koka Kola Freiheit" during January or February. The band otherwise promises more gigs and releases in the future, which will be spawned from their own label "Sturm Café Records". Take Café!

Happy new year from Eine Tasse Jäger!

Here is some of the great music that 2010 promises to bring us. There will be more, so watch out for future blog updates!

Sturm Café: Once declared dead, the band is still alive! The 7" release that was mentioned almost 1 year ago, is being finished and should be released any time now. A few live shows are planned, and one in Sweden is already lined up for 6th March, and a gig in Rome together with KROPP lined up for 3rd April. Check out the band's Myspace page for two new songs (Koka Kola Freihet and Sicherheit). They show a new sound, which remains 100% oldschool, and despite being slightly farther away from typical anhalt EBM sound, still is raw and tough as it always has been.

AutoDaFeh: The one band that brought back the original sound of Front 242 last year is back with a new full-length album "Identity Unknown", that will be released in late February. Expect more of the same magnificent sound, this time very fittingly including a remix from Front 242.

Agrezzior: This project now features Johan Damm (stahlwerk! stahlwerk!), adding to the powerful sound of the band. Expect a new album "Domination" sometime soon, as the band has found their label and have been presenting new songs on their Myspace recently.

Guerrilla: The word of a debute-album has been floating around since last autumn, and it has been apparent for a while that it is delayed. However it is clear that the band is more than ready for a release as they have been continuously presenting new tracks on their Myspace. The outstanding quality of their take on oldschool EBM is very clear in these tracks, listen for yourself!

Signal Aout 42: One of the real legends of oldschool EBM already returned with a new album a few years back. This February promises another new full-length release, which apparently will be closer to their musical roots.

T.W.A.T.: They have launched a new web-page with a few free downloads and other interesting info. The new album is going to be released any time now! Oi!

Void Kampf: The new album has been promised from their label for quite a while now, and it seems the definite date is January 2010. "Severe Mais Juste" will have a whole ton of new tracks, including remixes from both old legendary and newer EBM bands.

Pouppée Fabrikk: Another truly legendary old band returns with a new release during summer 2010. The band has shown a few in-the-works sounds from the new album on youtube, and a new very informative official web-page has been launched.

Old School Electrology Vol. 1: The Great Steelworker informs that this beast of oldschool EBM and electro should reach its fans in early 2010, as the pre-orders have picked up, and if they keep the same rate. This project depends entirely on its fans, because a release of such size (four CDs with 81 exclusive tracks) in the underground scene is entirely non-commercial.

Bodytåget: The Swedish oldschool EBM festival, always located in Sugar Bar in Stockholm has a few dates lined up for this winter and spring. Watch their web-page for specific information. Here are the bands of varying genres that will perform at different times this half-year: Mergel Kratzer, Mechatronic, Sturm Café, No Sleep By The Machine (remember this name!), Astma, Restricted Area, Project X, The Pain Machinery, Tyske Ludder, and The Blister Exists.

Familientreffen VI: The best festival around is lined up for July 1-4th this year and already has a great line-up. One extra day with foreplay, and a mix of old school ebm legends and newer bands, as always. Bands lined up so far are: Armageddon Dildos, Schwefelgelb, EkoBrottsMyndigheten, C.C.C.P., Astma, T.W.A.T., Groupe T, aaak, and Hatbrott. This is only a small handful of the total line-up, which will be revealed by Electric Tremor as summer approaches. Watch out for updates!

Old School Electrology - only a few pre-orders left!

The legendary beast of old school electro and EBM has been in the works for several years now. The intention was to release it this November, but the label ran into financial difficulties, due to unexpectedly slow pre-order rate, based on its underground nature. All is well, however - Old School Electrology Vol 1. is only a few pre-orders away from being sent to its faithful fans.

That is, the label needs a few pre-orders to be able to finance its proper release. In case you have been planning to acquire this huge collection of 81 entirely exclusive tracks, now would be the time, before the remaining few copies are grabbed up. The Great Steelworker of Electro Aggression Records has promised that Old School Electrology will be able for digital purchase download sometime in the far future, but because of the underground nature of this scene, projects this big in size take a lot of time.

The poster for this release does a great job describing what it includes on the inside. Those pearls, that the big muscularly men are picking up, represent the exclusive tracks by the old school EBM and old school electro scene's finest bands (the big muscularly men are of course us, the faithful fans). In case you aren't a muscular man/woman, you can do push-ups while listening to Old School Electrology, because all these tracks are filled with pure old school EBM and electro FORCE!

Bodystyler with a new release, and a few upcoming old school EBM events

Some of you may remember the good old Altmark Elektros (or Projekt A:E), and the several other projects which were spawned from it. One of these is Bodystyler - the playful and catchy, yet hard beating old school EBM band, which definetly stands out in the modern EBM scene with its own special sound. Time has come for their first album release, which will come this December 14th on Electric Tremor. The release is entitled "Your Boots" and includes a remix by the legendary old-schoolers Escalator from
Hungary. For a demonstration of Bodystyler's sounds, make sure to check their Myspace or one of their videos on youtube.

And a note on an event in a farther future (March, 6th). It presents two of the newer bands that have recently been released by Electric Tremor: Camping Im Keller (headliner) and the first ever concert by Human R3source, in Beatclub Dessau. Watch this blog for more detailed introductions to those bands in the near future. The concert

itself will also include a performance from Rummelsnuff. The event is in addition a part of a special occasion: a festival dedicated to Kurt Weill, a famous and leading German composer of the 20th century, who was also a close friend of the poet Bertolt Brecht.

Otherwise, if you are near Stockholm this weekend (that is Saturday 5th, tomorrow), make sure not to miss the last concert of Bodytåget this year. Three quality bands are lined up: Armageddon Dildos, AD:keY, and Stockholm Wrecking Crew. This does not bode well for structures in Stockholm, but it without any doubt will be a great old school EBM experience! Make sure to check the collection of free songs from SWC (link on the right).

Tech Nomader and a radio show about anhalt ebm

This post will be exclusively about Swedish old school EBM.

First and foremost, in Norway (because everyone knows it is just a small Swedish province), you can experience EkoBrottsMyndigheten play live tomorrow, on Xelabration 2009, among with 3 other bands. Although it's a very short notice in case you live in Norway and haven't heard of this before, old school EBM events are extremely rare here, so don't miss this chance.

Moving on, the second volume of the legendary Swedish Oldschool EBM EP is released on 7th November, once again featuring the fantastic cover art. The new EP will feature Kropp (Vad SKall Du Ha På Dig Ikväll), SPARK! (Ett Lejon i Dig), T.W.A.T. (Battleground), and Container 90 (Two Thousand and Nine). The release itself will take place on a Swedish old school ebm festival in Stockholm, which will consist of a long and great night with live performances from Body Pleasure, KROPP, SPARK!, and EkoBrottsMyndigheten. This night will also see the EP release from Body Pleasure.

It doesn't end there. T.W.A.T. is soon finishing their debut album with the awesome title "Blood, Sweat & Teargas", which will probably be released both as a physical collector's item as well as online. Jäger 90 - Drischne Skasal: a review

Do you miss the really old school electronics and keep looking 30 or so years back in time for your musical pleasures, for Deutsch Amerikanische Freundschaft with its playful Neue Deutsche Welle influences and the originating sound of EBM, but feel that you have heard it too many times already? Look no further! The answer lies in the new release from Jäger 90 - Drischne Skasal. The sound, the lyrics, and the attitude of this album remind of DAF and everything that is oldschool electronic quality.

Drischne Skasal has 12 new songs, of which some feel like a natural continuing from their previous album "Muskeln und Küsse" (i.e. Richtung Westen and Dessau), while others are of a slightly different style which reminds a lot of DAF (such as Zu Jung or Unsere Jugend) through use of certain sounds and instruments, as well as tempo, vocals, and attitude. It must however be noted that Jäger 90 do not simply copy this style, but are rather strongly influenced by it. This album is less aggressive than their previous release, but it is energetic and catchy, with melodies that only Jäger 90 can create. Words will not make justice in describing, so listen to song snippets for yourself on their myspace page.

Jäger 90 have created a masterpiece that fights against the killing of oldschool EBM! Drischne Skasal will appeal to every fan of old school EBM, and certainly to everyone who misses the real good old Deutsch Amerikanische Freundschaft sound. Through this it really stands out as a unique release in the scene of modern EBM. If I had to rate this album it would get top score right away: 10+

First release from Oldschool Union, and a few more coming up albums this autumn

Out of nowhere this year came Oldschool Union, a very strong and fast project from Finland. As the name indicates, this is all about old school ebm, a very quality-minded one. Faster than usual EBM, with entirely Finnish lyrics, Oldschool Union emerges as a pretty unique musical project. In addition to being featured on the Oldschool Electrology Vol 1., it has now released an official album "Vanha Koulu", which you can buy directly from Oldschool Union itself. This you can do through the band's Myspace or sending an e-mail directly. Information about pricing and details can be found here.

Additionally, this autumn will bring a new EP from Body Pleasure, which will be released during their gig in Stockholm, on November 7th. You can hear some of the songs on their myspace, and more will come soon.

And next month, on October 17th, there will be another nice old school EBM compilation released, entitled "Help Can't Wait Compilation". With quite a line-up too. View the track listhere, and the general information about this project on their myspace.

And in the end, the new Jäger 90 album "Drischne Skasal" STILL hasn't arrived from Electric Tremor, although it should have been here more than two weeks ago, and I know I am not the only one. If you are looking to buy this album, the best choice would be to look for a different shop that will eventually get it, as Electric Tremor apparently has some sort of problem with the orders.

For those who don't know what Spotify is: it's a tiny music program which is run by ads and subscriptions, and has an enormous music collection of all possible genres. To get it for free, search google for "spotify invites".

Another new compilation from Intrendent and his Electro Arc: Net.Ware Twist Of Fate Compilation.

This time of a much broader musical range, including general EBM, Industrial, Future Pop, and our beloved minimal electronics. Of bands this blog promotes, two are included with new songs:

Bodystyler and Batch ID. You can listen to samples and buy this compilation or single songs here.

This autumn brings lots of new music to old school EBM fans. Among many others (which will be presented soon in the nearest future), there are new releases coming from Jäger 90, AD:KeY, and AutoDaFeh.

Jäger 90 have already finnished their fourth album (second on label) and "Drischne Skasal" will be released on September 15th, on Electric Tremor, and will have whole 12 new songs. Days are being counted until then!

Autodafeh continue their heavy mix of oldschool Nitzer Ebb and Front 242 with an EP release in a few days, and a whole new album release in October. The EP "Re:electro" features 7 new tracks, and will be available from 21. August.

And AD:KeY have entitled their new album "That's it!" and plan to release it some time during autumn!

Additionally, the long awaited Old School Electrology Bible is finally approaching it's finnish, and should be released sometime during this October, with pre-orders available in September (more details will follow as this legendary release comes closer!).

Familientreffen V was as fantastic as expected! Here are some photos of Guerrilla, Kommando XY, KROPP, Jäger 90, Sturm Café, Parade Ground, AD:KeY, AutoDaFeh, Void Kampf, A Split Second, and all the stompers, sledgehammers, beer drinkers, and the unlucky combination of dirt and rain on asfalt. Despite the latter, this was as great as last year - but it is impossible to describe the greatness of this festival - you have to be there!

Batch ID have uploaded their first release "Testosterone" to celebrate their 1 year birthday, for free both on last.fm and the marvellous Piratebay. Happy birthday Batch ID! You can download it song by song here or, if you have Utorrent or a similar program, download it directly from The Pirate Bay right here.

Farther, there is Groupe T, which isn't entirely old school EBM, but rather a mix of noise and Feindflug-like music. However, their last release is dedicated to Front 242, which must be the best homage to this legendary band that has ever been made. Listen for yourself! The Blister Exists (previously known as Judge: Dred) have announced their first full length album "RAW". You can hear short demos of some of the new songs on their myspace. One of the tracks feature the vocals of Johan Damm (Dupont, Volt, newer Poupée Fabrikk, Menticide), which fit this type of music really well. From the sound of myspace The Blister Exists continue their unique style of raw, slow, crushing heavy old school EBM. The new album will be released on 22. June. Additionally, a new exclusive song from this band will appear on Old School Electrology later this summer.

Tech Nomader are also finally stepping up with their debute album "New Seed", which will be released on Electric Tremor on 12. June. Watch out for their Spanish bullfighting/bullstomping straight forward old school EBM!

And, make sure to check out the new swedish old school EBM band: Stockholm Wrecking Crew. They have a nice punkish approach, and a typical Swedish sound. Check their first three songs on Myspace, or download one of them (Revolverman): here which SWC were so kind to upload for free.

New releases from SPARK! and T.W.A.T.

Recent days have seen two releases from two magnificent Swedish bands.

T.W.A.T. are out with their demo "Too Rude For Radio". It's entirely for free for a limited time, and can be downloaded here. (If you don't see the download link page, click on the link again, sometimes Sendspace gets lost). The demo includes five tracks in high quality mp3, including their newest peace with the same title - which just once again assures us that the music outside the radio is where the real quality is! Did I remember to say it's there for a limited time? Get it before it disappears!

SPARK! have finally released their new long awaited album "Ett

Lejon I Dig", with 10 new tracks, and you can buy the CD from their newly launched website for a very reasonable price. A review should be up on Eine Tasse Jäger sometime in the future! Otherwise, as SPARK! say: you can expect the same sound as from their previous releases.

Some new updates from EBM scene

Sturm Café. The band is returning for two last concerts, so make sure not to miss them! One is for the Swedes in Göteborg on 16th of May. The other should be on Familientreffen V, but it hasn't been confirmed by Electric-Tremor yet. I asked, but they are somewhat slow with replies. However I see the band name is back on the list on their festival page, so it should be a good sign.

A.D.A.C. 8286. Their second album "Love, Hate n Rage" has been released for soon two months, and Eine Tasse Jäger has been enjoying it equally long. It's strong, powerful, and filled with quality tracks from beginning to end. It's also fresh in the old school EBM scene: the mix of electro punk, hardcore EBM, and very old school style. Make sure to check out their Hidden Track (number 14), it has a very nice DAF and Liaisons Dangereuses feel to it! "Love, Hate n Rage" will be the album of 2009. It can be bought from Electric Tremor shop, although it would be very nice if it could be purchased digitally.

SPARK! are releasing their new and long awaited album on May 18th. This is how the cover looks like: (click for larger picture).

T.W.A.T. Are filling up their track list with yet another nice song "Policestate", which you can check out on their Myspace. Eine Tasse Jäger blog will do an interview with this project, make sure to come back for it in the nearest future.

Bodyfarm are now to be found on Electric Tremor shop with whole three albums. This band is unique in its own sound, and a slightly different take on old school EBM. You can listen to some songs on Bodyfarm Myspace.

Bomb Likör! is yet another project from Thoralf from Jäger 90. Does anyone have count on how many projects he has? Bomb Likör! is more like DAF than any other band and is very strongly suggested. And while we are on the subject of Jäger 90, check out the videos from their Swedish tour - where they apparently played a song from Bomb Likör! as well.

Eine Tasse Jäger has been very busy lately, so there have been no updates, but they will come shortly.

In the meanwhile, Sweden has the pleasure of Jäger 90's little mini tour which will happen in the coming days. Tomorrow, 1. May, the band will appear on stage on Klubb Kalabalik in Växjo, and the day after tomorrow, which will precisely be 2. May, Jäger 90 will play on Bodytåget in Sugar Bar, Stockholm. Make sure to not miss this magnificent band if you have a chance.

1. May: Klubb Kalabalik, with support from SPARK! and DJ-ing from mister Friherren, who is no other but the man from Sturm Café. (so now, when you all get drunk, you can collectively demand a Sturm Café reunion!)

2. May, Sugar Bar, with support from Spetsnaz and Autodafeh. This should be a grand design in hard beating ebm.

Electro Bosom.Buddies Music released!

The anhalt ebm compilation from Electro Arc is released since a couple of days ago. The fine thing with it is that you can digitally buy it for a very acceptable price, here. (This site requires a registration, and for some reason it doesn't allow to pick a country other than Germany and two others - my solution to that was to just go with Deutschland and type in 10000 as post code).

Electro Bosom.Buddies Music is a very fine release. Some of the tracks have been heard before, others were quite new. You can hear a sample of each song on the album download page and make an opinion yourself. Eine Tasse Jäger blog was especially fond of Ad:KeY - Aggro's Baby, A.D.A.C. 8286 - Sport Frei, Hagen's Brut - Angst, Digital Factor - Dopamin, and Frontal - Aus und Vorbei. But in general, all of the songs on this compilation are quality pieces, each doing a very nice work to represent the band it's from. Musically, you get a mix of electro punk, slower more tough anhalt EBM, faster hard beating minimal electronics, and straight forward EBM, with some entirely new less known bands as well as veterans.

Bands included are: Ad:KeY, Guerrilla, Darkmen, Dupont, Severe Illusion, A.D.A.C. 8286, Kraft, Ionic Vision, Elite!, Hagen's Brut, Spark!, Body Pleasure, Equitant, UGH...!, Digital Factor, Struck 9, Judge: Dred (The Blister Exists), Standgericht, and Frontal.

Electro Arc made a fine compilation which suits as an introduction album about oldschool influenced EBM in general, and a nice exclusive collection, which will suit any EBM fan.

There have been many new anhalt EBM bands lately, here goes some of the most recent.

The first newcommer is Pact of Warsaw. This band is a joined forces project from ELITE! and A.D.A.C. 8286. What is unique with this band is that it digs more selectively in the old school EBM scene, searching for influences. Such bands as Paranoid and Die Warzau can be heard in their music. In addition you can hear the sound of both ELITE! and A.D.A.C. 8286. Only two tracks are uploaded on their myspace, but the band says it is working with more. Pact of Warsaw is quality music all the way.

Finland isn't the first country that comes to mind when you think about old school EBM. Therefore it is a pleasure to present Oldschool Union. Entirely new band, with lyrics only in Finnish, and strong, good quality old school EBM, the way we all like it! The Finnish language fits this sort of music very well, and adds some originality as well. So far you can only hear this on Myspace, but possibly a different form of release might come soon. Now, where do I order this beer...

Bodystyler is one of the bands to appear on Familientreffen V. Altmark Elektros fans look no farther, this project apparently must be either A:E under a different name, or a new project from same people (since some of the older A:E songs are present). However, musically this is somewhat different from typical anhalt EBM. It is still minimalist and hard beating electro, but Bodystyler employs some unusual sounds and synths in their compositions. Make sure to check out for yourself on their myspace.

KROPP to replace Sturm Café on Familientreffen V

The now split-up Sturm Café naturally won't appear on Familientreffen V (although it would be very nice with a final good-bye concert, especially for their fans who haven't seen this band live). The replacement for Sturm is however clear - the hard beating love song producing in good old Nitzer Ebb style: KROPP. It is very sad to see Sturm Café go, but KROPP is definetly a worthy replacement with their energy, musically technical skill (listen to that synth!) and McCarthy's vocal influence that is stronger than in any other old school EBM band; AUGH AUGH!!

It can't be stressed enough, but if you like old school EBM and at least some of the bands this blog promotes: YOU MUST ATTEND THIS FESTIVAL. Here is the line-up for this year:

Familientreffen V is 24-26 July (the 26th is dedicated to a football match). Eine Tasse Jäger blog was there last year and can voutch for the friendly and even family atmosphere (hence the title) with tons of good music (both the bands and DJs) and lots of fun. This festival is simply a must for all boys and girls who like this style of music. Not the least, the festival tickets are as cheap as they can be, and you can order them here. The ordering process is a little complicated, mostly in German only, requires registration on Electric-Tremor and you have to manually transfer the payment, but it isn't as difficult as it looks like. If I can do it, you can do it. In worst case, send me a note or reply here, and maybe I can help. Eine Tasse Jäger received tickets in mail just a few days ago.

RIP Sturm Café 2001-2009

This blog is sad to bring you very disappointing news.

Sturm Café have split up, as announced by the band itself:

"From this day, 22st of February 2009, Sturm Café no longer exist as a band.
This decision was taken today by Gustav and Jonatan who both leaves the band without bad blood."

Sturm Café was one of the most known and popular bands in EBM since their successful debut album "So Seelisch So Schön". Largely influenced by Deutsch Amerikanische Freundschaft and early Nitzer Ebb, but also drawing influence from NDW, this band was different, funny, original, playful, catchy, pop, but always hard punching old school EBM. Therefore it is very sad to see one of the veterans of the revival of old school EBM disappear.

It is even more disappointing to see them go, considering all the live concerts that were lined up this spring and summer, as well as the planned new releases.

I will post an update soon about their newer tracks which were made for the new album.

New album from Jäger 90

Carying the vision of Deutsch Amerikanische Freundschaft and early Nitzer Ebb farther, one of the most important and skilled bands in recent ten years of old school ebm, Jäger 90 announce that they are working with their fourth album.

The announcement only says the band is working with composing new tracks, and any potential recording and release date is impossible to define yet. However, the title for the new album is decided upon, and will be "Drischne Skasal".

Jäger 90 are otherwise lined up for several concerts this spring, so let's hope the album comes before then, although that doesn't seem likely. They will appear live in Sweden: Klubb Kalabalik in Växjo on 1. May, and on Bodytåget Club on 2. May. Farther, you can also see them in Germany during summer - 18. July on Amphi-Festival, 24. July on Familientreffen 5, and 4. September on Nocturnal Culture Night.

Time has come for another load of old school ebm news, keeping up the news-channel image for this blog. *Insert commercial here: have a sip of Eine Tasse Jäger every day!*

T.W.A.T. continue their Oi! Body Music trend with another two new quality tracks, which you can now listen to on their myspace: "Gaza" and "The Barricades". Let's hope that T.W.A.T. get all the attention they deserve when they play at WGT warm-up on 28. May in Leipzig. The unique and different catchy style of this band is definetly worth everything.

Angstabrikk have released their album "Daneben heißt richtig liegen" and you can buy it and view the track list here. It includes many of the songs you can hear on their space, and interestingly a cover of Dead Kennedys old hit "California Über Alles". This album doesn't entirely present the style Eine Tasse Jäger is about, but some songs like S.W.G.A.C.D.S. will definetly appeal to old school ebm fans. You can see them live in Leipzig, 21. February (that's next weekend).

Guerrilla are preparing for their appearance on Familientreffen 5 this summer, with new tracks on their Myspace. Go there for a taste of more new minimalist old school ebm!

Batch ID are keeping it up with more new material as well: "EBM Girl" is their newest song and you can hear it on Myspace. The band has plans to release an album on their own label soon. While waiting for that to happen, you can download their song "Charterfront" for free here.

Judge: Dred has changed band name to The Blister Exists, and all older material and new album to come will be under this name. "Judge: Dred" had to be dropped because of potential copy right problems, when officially releasing an album on a label. Which should mean that this old school ebm band with their heavy Pouppée Fabrikk worshipping style, should release a debute soon. All hail The Blister Exists!

Electro Arc and the "independent music maniac" Intrendent is releasing another old school ebm compilation this March 20th: Electro Bosom.Buddies Music.

Featuring mostly newer anhalt ebm and new old school ebm bands, this 1 CD compilation is a great introduction to this genre of music for those who aren't familiar with it. It holds a great variety of bands, so it should appeal to ebm veterans as well, making sure everyone is updated about the newest acts in this scene. In addition, some of the tracks appear to be exclusive.

Void Kampf, the French old school EBM act have just been signed on Sigsaly Transmissions and have announced to release their new album this June. The title: "Sévère Mais Juste". They are also lined up for our beloved Familientreffen V festival in July.

Void Kampf are different in their music, expanding their tracks to techno and more noisy composition from time to time, yet always remaining EBM. There is also some humour involved - such as the marvellous EBM cover of an old 80s hit: Boys (Summertime Love) by Sabrina, which appears under the name "Hidden Track" in one of their demos.

Speaking of which, Void Kampf have been very generous and put up their three demos for download, entirely for free on their official homepage. Go there for download and view other general info about Void Kampf, or just follow these links directly:

Incoming: new albums from Sturm Café, A.D.A.C. 8286, Darkmen, Sequenz-E

The year 2009 is already looking very promising. So here goes another stream of news and album announcements:

A.D.A.C. 8286 announced a new album this March. It will be released on Electric Tremor and promises more pure old school ebm. The factory boys are back! The album bears the title "Love, Hate 'n' Rage" - which also sounds as a good description of their previous material, so one can expect the same hardcore old school ebm style.

Sturm Café are promising a new album this spring. The band is already lined up for several concerts in late spring and rest of the summer in Sweden, Germany (Familientreffen V), and more. It will follow the same style their previous full lenght album did (So Seelisch So Schön): which means a mix of harder ebm tracks like Mozart Ideal and Stiefelfabrik, and tracks closer to synth-pop in style, yet remaining old school ebm. Sounds like another classic from Sturm Café in other words! There is also a mention of an EP to be released sometime soon. Eine Tasse Jäger will keep you posted once the more detailed dates are known!

Darkmen are also building up their discography with a new release. It is being made as we speak, and should come out this month. Produced by Ionic Vision and released on their label Machineries of Joy. Darkmen is a relatively new band with several EPs and one full-length album, but the minds behind it have been working with music for many years. You can expect maximum old school ebm experience with a good dose of Nitzer Ebb and Front 242 infuence. Follow the link to their Myspace to have a taste.

And last, but not least: a new releaze from Sequenz-E is coming this spring, also released on Electric Tremor.

Quality old school EBM: Elite!

Elite! is exactly what it say it is: elite! This France based old school EBM act presents more DAF and Nitzer Ebb style the way it was back in its glory days, than most today's bands do. Especially early DAF influence is more rare in modern EBM, but Elite! proves that wrong through such stand-out tracks as Harte Liebe and Mein Mädchen. You can hear those and other songs on Elite! Elite! presents music that ranges from fast energic punk to more hardbeating straight old school EBM, and a few slower slightly atmospheric tracks. Today is when the third album from this band is released, with the title "Totenkopf". You can preview it and buy it (and the other two albums) from Black Montana label. "Totenkopf" presents 12 tracks, including remixes by EkoBrottsMyndigheten and Frontal.

One good thing about this project is that, in contrast to many other bands this blog promotes, it is very easy accessable. Three albums have been released and are available for digital purchase on Black Montana label. Eine Tasse Jäger blog has purchased from there several times before and can confirm that it delivers what it promises. Something very EBM, exclusive and exciting is coming soon.

The previously mentioned huge box set with vari0us old school EBM acts (see post with new year greeting) has finally revealed the bands and track list. It holds many surprises, especially since all the tracks are exclusive. This looks like something every EBM fan would enjoy, as well as a nice introduction to this style of music for a newcommer.

The 4-CD box set is actually a mix of oldschool EBM, anhalt EBM, and authentic dark electro. Many of the bands this blog promotes are included, such as Astma, Darkmen, Agrezzior, Ondska, AutoDaFeh, Tech Nomader, ELITE!, Judge: Dred, U.M.M., EkoBrottsMyndigheten and many others. In addition some bands that have been silent for a long time are included, such as Presto Fervant and Pouppée Fabrikk and Controlled Analogue Programming (CAP). These bands are only a few of the whole line-up, so view the link above for more details.

To tease you a little, there are two surprises in the track-list that will be revealed sometime later. (Eine Tasse Jäger crosses it's Jägermeister smeared fingers that one of those will be Jäger 90.)

The more punk side of EBM: T.W.A.T. and Batch ID

Most EBM has a little of punk or electro-punk in it, but some bands take it much farther. Many are aware of Container 90 and their magnificent punk approach, not the least their great loud and proud album from last autumn. Here are another two bands.

T.W.A.T. is a side project from EkoBrottsMyndigheten, but the music is different and in turn pretty unique for EBM. It's Oi! EBM, naturally with Oi punk influences. T.W.A.T. is the one and only EBM band with this approach, and is definetly worth a listen. You can download their four songs for free he re. Listen and enjoy, while we await more material. This project is entirely new, and they were lined-up to support the guitarless back to the roots Die Krupps concert in Germany, but it was unfortunately canceled.

Batch ID is another band with some punk approach, but their songs are more flexible in style, ranging from synthpop to harder EBM to punk and ska influenced. Particularly the song Electric Riot should appeal to punk and ska fans, which is one of the newest songs put up on their Myspace. It is definetly good to hear more unusual old school ebm such as this.

Eine Tasse Jäger blog wishes everyone a year filled with quality old school ebm!

2009 will continue to present new old school ebm as it has this last year, and we hope so that it will be even more. There are already lots of promises and new releases lined up. 2009 will bring you new releases from among others SPARK!, Darkmen, AutoDaFeh, as well as a collection box set presenting many of the bands this blog is about. There are many great concerts being planned, such as a big tour from Ionic Vision, and not the least the Familientreffen V festival, which is obligatory to every old school ebm fan, and which this year has lined up such great bands as Jäger 90, Proceed, Sturm Café, AutoDaFeh, and even A Split Second - the classical ebm band from back in the day when the years were still quality 80s. Plus many more!

Jäger 90 - Meine Angst

Eine Tasse Jäger blog had a bad power outage..also defined as being cut off from internet for more than two weeks. But Eine Tasse Jäger is back now.

In any case, during that time the new Jäger 90 song finally was released on Advanced Electronics 7. It comes from the same production period as Muskeln & Küsse album, and you can clearly hear it in the sound. Advanced Electronics compilations being quite popular and including many known names from ebm and industrial scene, this should bring more attention to Jäger 90, which they clearly deserve. Meine Angst is a great hard beating more melodic track, strongly suggested to all EBM fans. Unfortunately I couldn't find any samples on the net that I could link to. I will post them as soon as I do.

Jäger 90 are soon to appear on stage in Rome, Italy. Stomping experience on 20th December! More details can be found here. A must-see for all (oldschool) ebm fans if you are around that part of the world during this time.

A new release from KROPP

KROPP has finally launched an official webpage, where you can listen to and buy songs in mp3 format. This includes many songs that you might have heard on Myspace, but also three new ones (at least they were new to Eine Tasse Jäger blog). You can get single songs or purchase the whole album.

Two upcoming old school and anhalt ebm events in Germany

December 5th and December 6th!

Those two events deserve a special notice as they actually reach a festival standard, especially if you are willing to travel between Berlin and Leipzig. That, and the fantastic line-up!

December 5th in Berlin: Headlined by the old timers Yelworc from many years ago, with their old school dark ebm. This is their first live concert after 15 years, so special it is. The other bands are newer, but still very old school: Blue Eyed Christ, Ad:KeY, Kommando XY, and Franz Riss.

December 6th in Leipzig: Headlined by Sturm Café and Blue Eyed Christ, and supported by Ad:KeY, Kommando XY, Franz Riss, and A.D.A.C. 8286. The event is fittingly entitled "These Boots Are Made For Stomping". Expect a dancable experience then!

If you aren't familiar with those bands, scroll below to find descriptions of some of them or follow the Myspace links. In any case, both concerts should appeal to all old school EBM fans. For those who are familiar with these acts, you know that you want to go! Kommando XY will by this time
have released their new album, so expect new material live! For those wondering about Franz Riss, the myspace page only presents ambient tracks. For a more fitting demonstration scroll below and follow the link to Stakkato.

There is only one negative side about this, that Eine Tasse Jäger blog won't be attending any of these two, due to economical reasons. It takes money to travel from Norway to Germany!

Updates on Jäger 90, KROPP, and SPARK!

Jäger 90 have recently released their third album "Muskeln & Küsse" on Electric Tremor, although it has existed as a CDR release for quite some time. The band has been silent otherwise, except for occasional live shows and side projects such as Franz Riss and Stakkato. It is thus good to see that Jäger 90 are still releasing new stuff: a new track from them will be appearing on Advanced Electronics 7, along with material from other various ebm and electro bands. The song is called Meine Angst, and the compilation should be released on 28th November, which is not far away from here. Needless to say, this blog is hugely and "fanboy-ishly" favouriting Jäger 90, claiming that it is the best thing that has happened to EBM in last 10 years. Carying the old school german originality and vision of DAF farther, Jäger 90 have released three albums, the last one (Muskeln und Küsse) being quite original and different, this band is strongly suggested to every EBM fan, not only the old school. Look at their homepage, although it hasn't been updated for a while. Or head over to myspace for song demos.

Other recent updates regard KROPP: you can now see it live in Sweden, in Klubb Kalabalik in a town called Växjö. This will be happening on 28th November (eek). And a quick reference to SPARK! again! Kick me! They have two new very nice songs put up on their myspace: Ett Lejon I Dig (a lion in you) and Glassbilen (ice-cream truck), both being quite fresh and nice takes on old school ebm.

Guerrilla

The Dutch Guerrilla is hard-beating, heavy old school ebm. You may know the related projects such as DNF, the newly discovered Agrezzior, and Xolez.

The band has released quite many songs, and recently put up some new ones on their Myspace, so this blog is notifying you. Check them out for heavy and hard monotonic masculine experience! Sometimes it reminds a little of DNF for those who are familiar with it (those who aren't, watch out for an introduction in the nearest future). However, Guerrilla presents clean vocals and slightly more heavy stomping drum beats than a typical neo-old school or anhalt ebm band. Listen for yourself in the link above!

Kommando XY: new album!

Kommando XY are coming from the North (Sweden that is) to hunt you down, the way they hunt down moose in their own cold Swedish woods. The release date of the new album is set to 1. December, it's title will to be "Welcome to Gestrikland".

In case you are wondering what moose has to do with any of this, I urge you to go and read the interview by Electric Tremor, regarding the new release.

For the unknowing, Kommando XY is Swedish old school EBM, with a good amount of humour and a greater amount of RAW sound and vocals. Coming from Gustav, who also is a member of Sturm Café, you can recognize some similarities with the latter. They have a few releases behind them already, and you can hear a collection of their older material and stuff from the upcoming album on their Myspace. This band should appeal to any old school and anhalt ebm fan, some may experience it as a more raw version of Sturm Café (which again in turn should appeal to fans of old school Nitzer Ebb and DAF).

New album from AD:keY, called Thema Nummer Eins is soon released on Electric Tremor (thanks to Tanzbefehl for tip). This is their first album, presenting old school ebm in the standard way everyone would prefer, but yet still being a little different. It should be out on 25.
November, and by then you should be able to find it on Electric Tremor pages. For nice old school sounds, check their Myspace. Those are a nice introduction of how the album will be.

Whoever thought that this new wave of old school ebm wasn't to stay, was wrong!

Today (which is 24, October), the good old stomping masters of Container 90 release a new album "World ChampionShit". Sure, they sold themselves out to Out Of Line records, and no longer can we quote the intro to their previous album: "we are no fucking sell-out", and there being no future.. But who cares now? We have another nice album from punk-influenced Swedish EBM masters. I will follow this up with a review of World ChampionShit once I get it.

More new Swedish stuff to come. Sturm Café and Kommando XY are working on new material and have finished quite some of it apparently, and by the end of this year there should be albums released from both. There are concerts lined up for both in Germany (5th and 6th December), so one can hope for the albums to be released before that time.

SPARK! are also working. Early 2009 should be the time for their new album. So far you can hear a new song on their myspace.

And more EBM news, as if this was some nice news channel. Franz Riss has a new project called Stakkato, and has moved some of his new songs under that name, probably because of style differences between the new material and the debute album. Both those bands are side-projects from Jäger 90. Stakkato is releasing a CDR album right here.

You can also hear song samples there. Stakkato should appeal alot to fans of DAF, especially newer material. It is not as hard hitting stomping as a typical anhalt EBM band, but extremely good nonetheless. Hear for yourself!

More good stuff from Germany!

Also a new band with one debut album released on Electric Tremor: here goes FRONTAL! The album is called EBM Freundschaft and presents proper old school inspired EBM with a tiny bit of more modern sound (naturally). Don't misunderstand "modern sound", this is by no means similar to modern EBM bands. FRONTAL stays true to the old school and should appeal to all fans of such.

FRONTAL is German, minimal but very strong, often catchy, and expressive. The vocals are unique (instead of describing I will let you listen for yourself - look for the link below). The band is as superb live as it is on the album - the performance on Familientreffen IV was great and charismatic (with Franz Riss).

One of the many new bands from Germany!

A.D.A.C 8286 is extra old school ebm and electropunk, with their first album release 13th June 2008 (which also was the starting date for Familientreffen IV festival - entirely 100% old school and anhalt ebm festival in Sandersleben, Germany), where the band also played live.

A.D.A.C 8286 can sometimes seem more hardcore in sound, slightly more heavy and punk than a typical electronic body music band. A little bit more straight-forward and agressive. However it remains firmly within old school and anhalt emb style. The band, with two different vocals, makes music about life, girls, work, factory, muscle, cars, and so on. One thing is that I don't know what A.D.A.C 8286 means literarily, anyone who knows feel free to comment or e-mail.

KROPP

The first band to receive attention here shall be KROPP. Meaning "BODY" in Swedish, it is an entirely new band.

How many worship the old Nitzer Ebb? So Bright So Strong, or particularly That Total Age album ? After listening to it to death and more, one might want to hear something similar, but the truth is, nor the old nor the new ebm music inspired by the old ever managed to pull of an album filled with such energy.

KROPP sounds as a tribute to the old Nitzer Ebb, particularly in the vocals, even if it isn't equally energy-filled as That Total Age. There will be a link below to the band's Myspace page and you can hear for yourself. Many will recognize McCarthy's vocals in it. Otherwise KROPP presents proper old school ebm, which should appeal to everyone loving the old.

The band is on demo stage at this moment (summer, 2008). One demo release has been released last year, but it almost didn't have any vocals. The real thing with KROPP is the new unreleased tracks that you will find on Myspace. The bad thing is that not all songs are present there.. But they surely can be acquired in one way or another.

One special thing with KROPP is that it is entirely 100% Swedish, and the lyrics aren't about machines, factories, war and work.. In fact it often is the opposite - kissing, love, and who your heart beats for. But when that heart beat for that special someone is presented in raw old school sound, inspired by probably one of the strongest vocals of this planet (AUGH!!!!) and very hard beats..
